Finan has a plan to invest in Blackstone’s newest adventure ready venture, Blackstone Quest.
The startup is hoping to break into the venture capital market by focusing on new investment opportunities in emerging markets.
Finan, who previously invested in a number of venture capital firms including Google Ventures, has been a leading voice in the tech sector in recent years.
He was previously a partner at venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz.
Finan told Recode that his goal is to help the company grow to a larger scale, but said that he wants to help Blackstone grow even further.
He said that the company is looking for “big ideas” that could add “a whole new dimension” to the adventure ready startup’s growth.
Finans first investment into Blackstone was a $2 million investment in Blacklight, the company behind the popular open-world game for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
That investment led to Blackstone having to move its headquarters from Seattle to San Francisco, where it now has offices.
Blackstone has also launched a new business, Black Stone Ventures, which it launched in 2015, with its own offices in New York City.
Finney also said that Blackstone is looking to invest into other startups in the future, including a partnership with Amazon, a move that has led to some criticism.
Blacksmith has not responded to Recode’s request for comment.
