By Peter FarrarA new Digimon adventure game is finally coming to Nintendo’s Switch.
The new DigiDestined adventure game, dubbed “Digimon Adventure Tri,” is due out for Nintendo Switch on October 11, the publisher revealed this week.
In a statement, Nintendo of America’s John Hanke confirmed the title’s release date and said that the company would continue to support the game.
“We’re very excited to announce that Digimon® Adventure Tri will be launching on Nintendo Switch this fall,” Hanke said.
“It’s the first new Digimania title to hit the system since the release of Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth back in March 2018.
We’re thrilled to announce the title is the latest entry in Digimon’s popular franchise and we look forward to bringing the story to Nintendo Switch in 2017.”
The game is set in a world where Digimon have been transformed into monsters, and players can explore new worlds with their new companions.
In order to unlock new areas and dungeons, players must digivolve into the Digimon that populate them, and their new abilities include the ability to jump higher and use digi-glasses to find treasure.
The game has been in development for years by Nintendo’s Digital Foundry, which is led by a former director of Nintendo of Europe’s Digital Team, and the publisher is working closely with Nintendo of Japan’s Digital team on the game’s development.
Nintendo of America president John Hankes confirmed that the Switch version of the game will not launch on any other console, and Nintendo of the United States has yet to confirm the exact date of the title launch.
The game will be available on the Switch on November 10 for $59.99, which includes a download code to download the game from Nintendo’s eShop.
